There is not much I can say about tonight other than, “Wow”! I entered the venue this evening knowing I was going to be exposed to a small room with a sold out crowd, but what I was not prepared for was the frenzy that ensued after Panic At The Disco took stage. Not being very familiar with the band, other than for the few radio hits they’ve had over the last 7 years ago, I really felt a little awkward being there. This was solidified when I asked the kid behind me when the band came out with their first album, which happened to be in 2006, and he followed the response with, “I was in the 7th grade”. I continued the conversation by saying, “Yeah I graduated High School in 1999”, in which the next response out of the kids mouth was “Wow”…ironic because that is the opening sentiment of this blog entry. It was obvious the band still obtains a strong following with young adults in the age group of 15-20, making this show very different than what I am use to where the medium age of the audience is 21-35. Tonight I really got a kick out of the audiences enthusiasm which reminded me of the love I have for my favorite band, Pearl Jam. This made me leave the venue with a smile on my face, thinking of the amazing moment I witnessed seeing the audience experience that special opportunity when they realize they are the closest they’ll ever be to a band they love more than any other.
