Jamey Johnson at River City Casino – October 5th, 2013

Mr. Jamey Johnson played to a sold out crowd at River City Casino tonight and I have to say for once I felt completely out of the loop at a show.  For those out there that visit this blog regularly you will notice that the bulk of the content is centered around photographing rock acts.  Tonight was a change of pace for me in that it was the first county show I have ever photographed.  As I made myself up to stage right, weeding through the crowd to get to the pit it was pleasant to see the intensity in the crowd.  Everyone was there to see Jamey Johnson and ever was very much a die hard fan.

When I was waiting for Jamey to take stage I engaged in a couple conversations with fans at the front of the house.  All of them stated that they were exited for the show and seemed to take pride in the fact that Jamey’s style of country music respects the classics of the genre, paying respect to artists like Merle Haggard and Hank Williams.  I only got to hear a handful of songs played in tonights set tonight, but from what I heard I could see how fans would compare Jamey to a more classic style of country music.  I was proud to be the only photographing shooting the show tonight and I was happy that River City had a packed house.  This venue is a really great place to see a show and I highly suggest checking it out!

  1. Jamey Johnson is the best singer in Nashville His band is stellar He has won song of the year twice. The songs he writes are done so well they evoke images in your head His shows are captivating as fans keep following him as we do. I dont think that radio ignoring his music will hold him back it doesnt bother us as we have turned them off

    1. I agree Vivian, I personally found it inspiring to see how devout Jamey’s fan base is. No matter what music you listen to, being passionate about it is a must and I love witnessing that first hand at a concert. Take care!
