Tuesday I got to photograph the psychedelic/70’s influenced rock group Wolfmother, who hail from Australia. Staying true to their recordings, they took the stage to deliver a flawless melody of fuzz box infused chunky guitar riffs, soaring solo runs that cut through the air in the room, and echoing vocals that shook your brain as they pierced through your ear drums. If you are a classic music fan the only way I can describe this band is that they sound like Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin had a bastard child that was raised by Chris Cornell. They are rocking, melodic, and very open. Their new record New Crown is available on Band Camp at this URL: http://wolfmother.bandcamp.com/album/new-crown. New Crown has more of a garage rock type feel with a more dirty sound than their prior two recordings, which seem to have a higher level of production. The new record does not disappoint and the songs flow fantastically in a set list along with their hits and crowd favorites.
Check Wolfmother out on their tour and to sweeten the deal openers Black Pistol Fire do a great job of getting the crowd going, as well as delivering an immense wall of sound for a two piece. It’s a win, win and seeing both bands together make for one hell of a night of rock ‘n’ roll music!
