This marks the second time I’ve had the privilege to cover a Gary Clark Jr. show at the Pageant, and all I can say is that this is an artist that is just going to keep getting bigger and bigger as his career continues to flourish. First time Gary played town he almost sold out the venue, and this time around it was probably the highest level sell out that The Pageant is legally able to sell per fire code. The house was a rockin and everyone was loving it. What I find to be so fantastic about Gary’s music is that he’s a blues artist but one that has taken blues to another level. Listening to him live is like hearing the product of a musical love child that Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughn birthed from the heavens. Unreal! This guy can shred and his band is just as fierce. If you call yourself a rock, blues, R & B, or classic rock fan then Gary has just what the doctor ordered. Mark my words, this show may be the last time we see this artist in a medium size venue like the Pageant. Bottom line don’t miss out if you get a chance to catch him live, you will love every minute of it!
