Turnpike Troubadours @ The Pageant – March 25th, 2016

Last weekend started off amazingly with being able to cover a sold out Turnpike Troubadours show!  I had previewed some tracks by them before the show and really didn’t get enough exposure to get an accurate opinion on their style/sound.  The crowd was very much different than what generally frequents The Pageant.  Younger married couples, older adults, and a sea of fitted jeans and cowboy boots packed the venue from wall to wall.  I pretty much had wrote this act off as a modern day country act and boy was I mistaken.  This act had a lot more depth and had some elements of older country that I have been a huge fan of hearing mixed into the Alt-Country genre.  The singer primarily played an acoustic guitar, they had a fiddle player, and another member switched back and forth from playing the accordion and playing a slide steel guitar.  Turnpike Troubadours are way more eclectic than most modern country acts that I’ve heard, and I left the venue wanting to investigate their catalog a little closer.

As always enjoy the pics!
