The English Beat @ Duck Room – July 10th, 2016

The English Beat or just The Beat is a band, that due to my age, I kind of overlooked for many years. About 10 years ago my wife turned me onto the John Cusack classic Grosse Pointe Blank, which features many great 80’s new wave hits and The Beat’s music is featured extensively throughout the movie in different scenes. After putting two and two together, finally realizing that this band produced the classic hit “Mirror in the Bathroom”, I started spending more time with their catalog on Spotify. The Beat has played St. Louis and the Duck Room multiple times over the last 10 years and I’m so happy to have caught them this time around. It was also great to see this band pretty much pack the venue, which shows they still have a devout following in St. Louis. If you are looking for a fun night out, you must check The Beat out the next time you get a chance. Their set was filled with ska covers of older soul music that you just can’t help but dance along with. For more shows at the Duck Room please visit their site: http://blueberryhill.com/shows/
